Rush FAQ
Q: What is Rush?
Ans: Being part of a fraternity is usually a three step process – the first part is called Rush. This is when prospective applicants meet each member of AEZ, get to know the organization’s ideals and values, and decide whether AEZ is the right fit for them. To get more information about AEZ and its Rush schedule, attend the first informational on September 7th, 2010 at 7pm in Andersen Auditorium, Haas School of Business.
Q: Where can I get more information about Rush?
Ans: All the rush information will be given out at the first AEZ informational on September 7th at 7pm in Andersen Auditorium, Haas School of Business. This is also a good opportunity to meet the brothers and find others that have similar interests as you.
Q: Is AEZ a social fraternity?
Ans: No. While AEZ is a strictly professional organization, the brothers are often together in different social settings. AEZ brothers interact socially at banquets, retreats and in the past, some of the best friendships have been found among AEZ brothers.
Q: Do I have to come to all the Rush events?
Ans: While it is recommended that each prospective applicant attend as many Rush events as possible, it is not required to join the fraternity. However, it is difficult for AEZ to judge some applicants if they have not come out to many Rush events, so attendance is crucial.
Q: How do I apply?
Ans: Applicants will be required to submit a small application, a cover letter, and a resume to AEZ in order to be considered for recruitment. More informational about deadlines and the application process will be available at the first informational on September 7th at 7pm in the Andersen Auditorium, Haas School of Business.
Q: What does AEZ look for in its applicants?
Ans: AEZ is an organization of motivated individuals that possess academic vitality and a high potential for professional success. When recruiting for new pledge classes, AEZ wants to find individuals that fit in well with the current organization. Although there is no rigid formula for recruiting, GPA, past work experience and extracurricular involvement, and performance in two interviews will be integral parts of the decision-making process.
Q: How will I know if I have gotten into AEZ?
Ans: After all application materials have been reviewed and interviews judged, AEZ will extend bids to a few select individuals. A bid is a formal method of inviting an applicant to take part in AEZ’s pledge process. If the bid is accepted, the applicant will be a part of AEZ’s next pledge class.
Q: I still have more questions about Rush. Who do I contact?
Ans: Each brother in AEZ is more than happy to help prospective applicants with their concerns, so contacting any member of the fraternity is acceptable. However, specific recruiting questions should be sent directly to Senior Vice President Akash Pandey at akash.pandey112@gmail.com
